1. I'm
not from Arizona. Can I still take the class? |
|
Prescott is a great place to
vacation, and an even better place to learn to ride.
If you are from another
state, check with your home state to see if they will honor the completion
certificate from the State of Arizona. If so, you can take the
course and then take the certificate back to your home state to have the
endorsement added to your license.
If your home state will not
accept the Arizona completion card, take the course and get an Arizona
Drivers License after class. Then go back to your home state and get
another license. The endorsement should remain.
If you are from another
country, check with your country's requirements around motorcycle education.
Many countries have extensive training requirements that are different from
those here in the US.

2. If I complete a RiderCourse successfully, do I have to take a test at
the MVD? |
|
BRC, IRC, and ERC graduates will receive a waiver from further
testing by the Arizona Driver Licenses Office.
Just take your completion certificate to the MVD and pay a small fee to have
a new license issued with the Class M endorsement.. |
|
3. What happens if I cannot successfully
complete the course? |
|
If you
cannot complete the course, you have a couple of options.
For six months after your
class date, as long as you complete the classroom portion of the class,
you can come and re-ride the range portion of the course on any weekend
with available space for the cost of the insurance.
If you want private lessons,
we can arrange them. The first half-hour of private instruction is
considered to be an evaluation period and is free of charge. After
the first hour, the charge is $50 per hour.
If you failed the skills test
and want us to re-test you, we will do so at the end of any regular BRC
within 6 months of your class date.
Registration and payment for the
class secures your place in class and is not refundable within 24 hours of
class start. Registration for a class does not guarantee that you will
complete it successfully. For tips and suggestions on how to better
your chances of course completion, please review all of these FAQs and the
course Tips.

4. What do I need to bring with me? |
|
You MUST bring with you:
-
Eye protection (sunglasses, glasses, goggles or face shield on a full full
faced helmet)
- Sturdy, over the ankle footwear (no
canvas). Low heels with non-slip soles are recommended, and no loose laces
or strings are permitted.
- Long sleeved shirt
- Long pants
For the BRC, we will provide you
with a helmet and gloves if you do not have the. For IRC/ERC, you
should provide your own; however we can provide newer riders with loaners if
necessary. |
|
4. Can I ride my own bike during class? What about someone else's? |
|
For BRC Students, it is
strongly recommended that you do not ride your own bike. If you opt to
ride your own motorcycle for the course and are not able to complete the
exercises on it due to size or weight of the bike, you will not be allowed
to switch to a school motorcycle mid-course.
For IRC/ERC, you are required
to bring your own bike. If you do not have a motorcycle, one can be
made available for rental. You must be the registered owner of
the motorcycle or have written permission from the owner in the event you
wish to use someone else's motorcycle. |
|
5. What if there is bad weather on the day of the class? |
|
In the event of bad
weather, it is likely we will ride anyway. Only in extreme cases will
we cancel a class due to weather, and it is at the RiderCoach discretion to
determine the safety of the environment for riding.
If rain is expected, bring
some rain gear to prevent the discomfort or distraction of soaked
clothes. |
|
6. Can I take the course if I am under 18?
|
|
If your are under age 18, the state of Arizona will require
that you either (1) you
ride with a motorcycle permit for 5 months or (2) or until you are 18.
To
obtain a permit, go to a driver's license testing office and
take the Arizona Motorcycle written test. You do not have to wait until you
begin our course to obtain your permit, you can take the Arizona test at any
time. The sooner that you complete the permit requirement, the shorter your wait
after class before you can apply for your license endorsement.
Once you have completed the riding
class, the licensing certificate which you will receive will be valid for 6
months. After 5 months passes, take the permit and the class certificate to MVD
for your motorcycle endorsement.

|
7. What type of license/permit do I have to have in order to take a
RiderCourse?
|
|
For the Basic RiderCourse, you
do not need a motorcycle permit.
For the Intermediate course you
need to have at least a permit
For the Experienced course you should have a license, but a permit is
acceptable.
|
|
8. Do you offer private lessons? |
|
Yes! We offer both
private individual and private group classes. Call the office for
details. |
|
9. I'm registered for a course, but I have to cancel. Can I get a
refund? |
|
Registering for a class
is a little like buying tickets to a concert. There are only so many
seats, and once a seat has been confirmed by you it cannot be given to
someone else. If you have to cancel or reschedule, contact the office
as soon as you can. We do reserve the right to charge a $45
rescheduling/cancellation fee if it's less than 10 days before your course
start date, and if you cancel within 24 hours of your course start time you
may forfeit your entire registration fee. |
